Mission, Vision, & Values

Mission

Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan (DMUM) supports children with disabilities and illnesses by raising funds and generating awareness for pediatric rehabilitation therapies at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.

Vision

To unite the University of Michigan campus and community behind creating a world where all kids can be kids.

Values

Inclusivity

We create a culture of mutual kindness and respect. We celebrate diversity and recognize the need to include all audiences to accomplish our mission. Every individual in DMUM plays an equally important and necessary role in our overall success.

Compassion

Compassion and a willingness to help are at the heart of what we do. We push ourselves to always think, serve, and lead without judgment. We approach any situation with a loving heart and an open mind.

Commitment

It is our priority to ensure that each member, beneficiary, and supporter of DMUM has a fulfilling experience. Growth in fundraising, community engagement, and advocacy for pediatric rehabilitation will only occur through the hard work and dedication of our members and leaders.

Integrity

Our members and supporters are expected to be truthful, transparent, and mission-oriented. We promote a culture of teamwork and honesty, ensuring every action and decision meets our moral and ethical standards.

Safety

We seek to provide a safe space within Dance Marathon for all people. We are committed to creating a community where all individuals feel safe to be themselves and participate fully in all activities. Every member and affiliate of DMUM bears the responsibility of protecting the physical, mental, and emotional well being of themselves and those around them.

Growth

DMUM provides an outlet for students to gain experience in leadership, philanthropy, and teamwork. We commit to cultivating learners and leaders who will take away both professional skills and valuable memories, preparing them for future philanthropic endeavors.
